Book: Seven All Alone
Author: Kirsty McKay
Thank you, NetGalley and RB Media, for an advanced audio copy.
Seven All Alone is a thriller that starts strong but then runs out of steam. The opening sets the story, and it takes place ten years before the events of the rest of the book. Seven kids are kidnapped by their bus driver and are held captive in a cave. Now, in the present day, all of them are on a high school survival trip in the wilderness of rural Scotland. A storm hits, and they are stranded. They are not alone, and someone begins to hunt the seven.
My biggest problem in this story was the characters. The plot was well written, but the characters were infuriating. I understand that they are young and experiencing trauma, but my god, are they annoying. They were all so insufferable that I didn’t care who lived and who died.
By the time we got to the end, I was definitely satisfied. The story was good, even with the poor characters. It left me intrigued to try another book by the author to see if I click with that one more.
Final score: 3/5
