This cozy holiday mystery was such a quick and fun read! It is part of a series, and this was book two. That was my mistake. It worked okay as a standalone, but I did feel at a disadvantage not knowing the first book.
The story takes place in the fictional town of Candy Cane Hollow, and we follow the main character, Holly Wood. I love that they joke about, yes, that’s her real name. Holly is dating Nick Claus, who is the son of Mrs. Claus. That’s where I got confused because I didn’t know the lore from the first book. Their relationship is intriguing and fun to watch.
Holly is a strong female lead and an excellent investigator. I loved watching how she put pieces together that I had not seen yet. At a party, there is what looks like an accidental death. Holly refused to believe it was an accident, and while she was trying to solve it, there was yet another death. Knowing they have to be linked, Holly goes on a mission to figure it out. I was left guessing, and the way the deaths are linked was truly a clever twist.
If you like mysteries, then this holiday-themed mystery should be on your list, but maybe start with book one.
