Book Review: Dear Debbie

Book: Dear Debbie

Author: Frieda McFadden

Thank you, NetGalley, and Dreamscape Media for an advanced audio copy.

I don’t know how she does it, but the books by Frieda McFadden just keep coming. She keeps putting them out, and I keep reading them. I have now completed her entire library, and most of them have not disappointed. Fortunately, they continue with Dear Debbie, although I was worried in the beginning.

Dear Debbie was not really what I expected. To be fair, I don’t know what I was expecting besides a great thriller, but Dear Debbie just started out slow and left me wanting more in the early pages. Debbie is a housewife with a column in a local paper where she gives advice to people who write in. At first glance, Debbie comes off as a typical working housewife, but that could not be further from who she is.

Debbie gets fired from her column for some advice she gave, then takes fate into her own hands and deals out some vengeance to those she feels deserve it. This is a dual POV from Debbie and her husband. They both have secrets and pasts they did not share with each other. Some of the reveals will definitely shock you.

In my opinion, this is not one of Frieda’s best, but with her talent, it still makes for a terrific thriller.

Final score: 4/5
