Book: Once and Again
Author: Rebecca Serle
Thank you, Atria Books and NetGalley, for an eARC in exchange for my honest review.
The story follows Lauren Novak, who has a very special gift. She can turn back time, just once in her life. She gets to choose when to do it. It has been passed down through three generations in her family; her mother and grandmother have this gift as well.
Lauren and her husband are struggling with infertility. Her husband is set on giving up and takes a job in NYC for the summer. Lauren decides to spend the summer back at the beach with her family. You can see it brought her comfort and happiness when she was there. From surfing to spending time with her dad. Then in comes her first love, Stone, who is back at the beach as well.
I really enjoyed the plot of this story. It shows you that what is meant for you will always find you. Even if you try to create a different path, something will always come to you.
I loved this story, and I will say that in the second half of the book, I was so invested. I couldn’t put it down because I needed to know how the story would end. It was beautifully written. This story will stay with me for a while.
Please note that this book touches on some serious topics, such as fertility. It hit home for me in particular. I understood Lauren’s journey and feelings on a very deep personal level.
** While writing this review, today they announced that Apple will be turning it into a film! **
