Book Review: Dante N. Ferno Is NOT a Loser

Book: Dante N. Ferno Is NOT a Loser

Author: Brian Gordon

Thank you, NetGalley and Macmillan Audio, for an advanced audio copy.

Looking at the cover and then the summary, it was obvious that Dante N. Ferno is NOT a Loser was trying to be similar to Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Fortunately for me, since I did not like that one, that was not the case, and this was a funny and very original story.

Dante will do anything to reinvent himself and be cool. He becomes friends with Virgil, and then, just like in “Dante’s Divine Comedy,” Virgil again plays a guide, but this time trying to guide Dante to be cool through science. The experiments Virgil would do were so fun and amusing, and they reminded me of myself as a kid who was obsessed with science.

The underlying story of friendship is a great message for all kids, and this was a fun way to share it with a young audience.

Final score: 4/5
