Book: The Other Twin
Author: Shalini Boland
Thank you, NetGalley and Brilliance Publishing, for an advanced audio copy.
This one had a really interesting concept that had me so excited to jump into.
The Other Twin follows identical twins Bella and Jade, separated at birth and living completely opposite lives. Bella has everything, a beautiful home, a successful business, the perfect boyfriend. Jade has been watching from the sidelines her whole life, consumed by resentment, and she decides it is finally time to take what she believes she deserves. The premise is genuinely creepy, and there is real potential in that setup.
My honest issue is that I struggled to get into it. I kept waiting for the story to really grab me, and it just never fully did. The pacing felt slow in places, and I found it hard to stay invested in the characters the way I wanted to.
That said, it is not a bad book, and I think fans of psychological thrillers who enjoy a slow build might get more out of it than I did. Boland is a seasoned author, and it shows in the writing.
Sometimes a book just is not the right fit for you at the right time, and I think that is okay to admit.
Final Score: 3/5
