I couldn’t put this book down, and reading it during the fall was absolutely perfect!
Julia and her family receive an unexpected inheritance from a close friend that requires them to leave their small town in Nebraska and head to NYC to live in a huge brownstone on the Upper West Side for at least six months.
Julia and her twin brother enroll in the Gardenwood Academy school. We learn that Julia’s math scores are not where they need to be. She needs a tutor to bring up her grades or risk getting kicked out.
Damion, her classmate in the academy, becomes Julia’s tutor. After a previous run-in, Julia is less than thrilled to discover that he is the one who needs to tutor her. Damion isn’t happy either, especially after learning that Julia and her family inherited her uncle Remington’s fortune and brownstone. So he wants to do everything he can to stop it.
As Julia and Damion begin spending more time together, things start to change. Damion becomes protective of Julia, who is dealing with a lot of bullying at school. I loved how witty and snarky Damion was but also how kind he was toward Julia.
I loved watching their relationship evolve from enemies to lovers. So many moments throughout the story I just wanted to give Julia a hug and be her friend. She was the sweetest FMC I have read. I promise you will be rooting for her and Damion the entire time!
This young adult story has everything you could want in a book, from drama and romance to unforgettable characters. It was such a fun and heartwarming read!
I have my fingers crossed that we get a movie adaptation of this book!
