Book Review: The Summer Share

Book: The Summer Share

Author: Jenn McKinlay

Thank you, Berkley Romance, for an eARC!

I really enjoyed this story! Hannah Spencer and Simon O’Malley are both thinking they are the sole heirs to their grandfather’s beach house in Cape Split, North Carolina. Hannah and her dog, Dude, have been living and traveling out of a van, and she thinks this is the perfect opportunity to settle down. Simon wants to take this chance to sell the beach house immediately and give the funds to his brother to make sure he will always be okay.

They find out they are both heirs to this house because their grandfathers owned it. In the clause, they have to live together in the house for 2 months before deciding what to do with it. That is when the antics begin. There are many laugh-out-loud moments, especially when they discover a bat in the house. I loved seeing them become so comfortable around one another. And seeing them dig into the past to learn more about their grandfathers was so perfect.

I also really loved that the story was told from both Simon and Hannah’s point of view. It really helped to see the chemistry form between them.

The side characters are also a great addition to the story. From the neighbors to Simon’s brother. It adds a great found family aspect to the story.

This is a must-add to your summer TBR list!

Final Score: 4/5
