Book: Hot Girl Murder Club
Author: Ashley Winstead
Thank you, NetGalley, and Macmillan Audio, for an advanced audio copy.
I really enjoyed The Last Housewife by Ashley Winstead, so I was very excited when I received this book. I went in not knowing much and finished it very quickly. This was a hard one for me to review because I did really enjoy the story, but I also found myself getting very confused throughout.
The story follows multiple characters through multiple timelines and, at its best, works but often feels disjointed, confusing, and chaotic. The book shows a lot of tough topics and injustice towards women and handles it well. It also leans hard on the girl rage trend and still does that well. So many pieces of the book work well, but for me, as a whole, it was hard to follow.
I can’t totally see why people will love this book, and I have no doubt it will be talked about as a great book. I just too often found myself confused to say it was great. This could totally be a me problem, so I do definitely recommend this one.
Final score: 4/5
