Jennifer Hillier is an instant read author for me and this one absolutely delivered.
Heart of Glass brings us back to Seaside, Washington, twenty-five years after the Carnival Killer was arrested for the murders of five young women, including local high school girl Lorelei. When the killer recants his confession to one of the murders on a true crime documentary, Lorelei’s two surviving best friends Barb and Nicolette are forced to confront what really happened that night and what it means for them now.
It was great to be back in Seaside even if Wonderland itself took more of a backseat this time around. The cast of characters is large but Hillier does a really impressive job of making you care about each of them. I was invested all the way through, which is not always easy to pull off with this many moving pieces.
Some of the twists, including one pretty major one, I did see coming. But here is the thing, when the story is this good it honestly does not matter. You are just along for the ride and loving every minute of it.
Hillier is at the top of her game here and this is a must read.
