Book: Let’s Kiss and Tell

I have to start off by saying that I love Joss Richardson’s writing, and she is an auto-buy author for me.
I am so sad that this book didn’t work for me. It’s Different This Time received all the stars from me, so this makes me really sad that this wasn’t a hit for me.
The story follows Lucy, who is a sex columnist who tries to promote and encourage your sexuality and not needing to be in a relationship to do that. One day, her boss tells her that the readers want more stories of being in a relationship because they can relate to that. Lucy is not and doesn’t want to be in a relationship, so in order to save her job and column, she tells her boss that she can turn the column around since she is currently in a relationship.
In comes Marshall, who Lucy meets at a work party, and she tries to convince him to fake date her to help her since he also needs a fake date to his ex’s wedding. She doesn’t realize at first that Marshall works at her company as the new Senior News Writer.
I was definitely pulled in at the start, but as we got to know the main characters more, I just had a hard time connecting with them. Even with the fake dating relationship. Every time Marshall would try to have a discussion about his feelings, Lucy would always shut it down, which I feel would stall the story at times.
I also had a hard time enjoying the ending.
Overall, I just think this book wasn’t for me, but I will definitely continue to read Joss’s books.
