Book: Altar of Lies

I went into this one completely blind, ignored the existing reviews, and I am really glad I did.
Altar of Lies follows Violet Santos, a cult survivor who has rebuilt her life in the quiet mountain town of Sweetwater Lake. When a body turns up in the woods with the same ritualistic markings from her past, she knows whatever she escaped has followed her there. Enter Grayson Iverson, an FBI criminal psychologist who finds himself drawn to Violet even as the danger around her grows and her trust in him begins to waver.
This is marketed as a dark romance but it reads much more like a thriller, and as someone who loves a good thriller that was a very welcome surprise. The dual points of view work really well and kept me fully invested in both sides of the story. Snow does a good job of building the tension between the romance and the mystery without one overshadowing the other.
My one issue is the ending. I will not say more than that but it left me wanting more in a way that was not entirely satisfying.
That said I am absolutely continuing this series. The world Snow has built here has real potential and I cannot wait to see where it goes.
