I cannot say enough good things about this series and this one is no exception.
Thirty four books in and David Rosenfelt is still finding ways to keep Andy Carpenter feeling fresh. That is genuinely impressive and not something a lot of long running series can pull off. Each book works perfectly fine as a standalone so if you have never picked one up before, there is no excuse not to start.
Bark Humbug brings Andy and the gang back for a Christmas mystery and it delivers everything fans of the series love. The humor, the heart, the dogs and of course the courtroom drama that makes these books so addictive.
What really stood out about this one is the ending. Without giving anything away, Rosenfelt throws a surprise in there that breaks from the usual mold in the best possible way. It was the kind of ending that made me close the book with a big smile on my face.
If you love this series you already know what you are getting and this one will not let you down. And if you have never read Andy Carpenter, a Christmas mystery is the perfect place to start.
Cannot wait for number thirty five.
