Book Review: The Christmas Getaway

Book: The Christmas Getaway

Author: Debbie Mason

Thank you, NetGalley, and Hachette Audio for an advanced audio copy.

Fake dating is not usually my thing but this one won me over completely.

The Christmas Getaway follows Charlotte Webb, a librarian whose ex struts back into her life to invite her to his Christmas wedding. Determined to prove she has moved on, she boards a plane to Edinburgh with a fake Scottish boyfriend in tow.

On the flight she bonds with a twelve year old girl traveling to Scotland to live with her single father, Ewan, a handsome duke with absolutely no sense of humor. When Ewan agrees to keep up the fake boyfriend ruse, things get complicated fast.

The Scottish setting is absolutely charming and the grumpy sunshine dynamic between Charlotte and Ewan works really well. Mason keeps things warm and festive throughout and the story moves at a pace that never drags.

One of the better Christmas books I have read so far this season. If you enjoy a cozy holiday romance with a little humor and a lot of heart, this one is worth your time.

Final score: 4/5
