Book Review: Patient 7

Book: Patient 7

Author: Sabrina Wade

Thank you, NetGalley, and Dreamscape Media for an advanced audio copy.

Patient 7 follows Dr. Rachel Hadley, who is still reeling from her ex-husband Colton’s sudden disappearance when Detective Lane Archer discovers something Colton left behind. A series of taped interviews with a patient labeled Patient 7, someone Colton should never have been treating. On those tapes, Patient 7 calmly predicts four murders in detail, including the victims, the locations, and the timing. The catch? He has had zero contact with the outside world for six months.

That premise alone had me hooked from the start. There are some slower stretches in the middle where I wanted the story to pick up a little more, but Wade does a good job of planting details throughout that all end up meaning something by the end. The payoff is genuinely satisfying, and I appreciated that the story actually wraps up fully rather than leaving you hanging.

Just when you think you have it figured out, it pulls the rug out from under you. The ending was exactly what a thriller like this deserves.

Final score: 4/5
