Stinetinglers 5 is exactly what you expect from the man who gave us Goosebumps. Ten short horror stories aimed at younger readers, each with its own creepy little premise. Some are genuinely fun and memorable, and others feel a little lighter than the rest. That is pretty standard territory for any short story collection though. You are never going to love every single one equally.
What actually surprised me was that not every story wraps up with a happy ending. I went in expecting the classic Stine formula where the kids come out okay in the end, and a few of these took a darker turn than I anticipated. In a good way. It gave the collection a little more edge than I expected.
If you grew up on Goosebumps or have kids who love a good spooky story, this is a really fun read. Stine still has it.
