Book: That Night
Author: Gillian McAllister
Thank you, NetGalley and Harper Audio, for an advanced audio copy.
Gillian McAllister is an instant read author for me. Every time she has a new book I am picking it up, no questions asked.
That Night follows three siblings, Frannie, Joe, and Cathy, who are vacationing together in Italy when Frannie calls her brother and sister in a panic. She has hit a man with her car and he is dead. Instead of calling the police, the three of them make a decision that will unravel the rest of their lives.
In her typical style McAllister finds a way to put you in these situations and really make you ask yourself what would you do? Would you help your sibling hide a body? Sorry Jen. Don’t think so. There were some good twists throughout but I did find the conclusion on the less satisfying side.
My honest feeling is that this one just did not fully pull me in the way her other books have. It took a while to find its footing and I never got completely hooked the way I wanted to. It is still a solid read and I would never tell a McAllister fan to skip it. But for me personally it sits a little lower in her catalog.
Final Score: 3/5
