Thank you, William Morrow, for the eARC!
This was such a good found family story!
Mona had a rough day. She has been living in a tiny apartment that just seems to be crumbling around her. She feels stuck, and on top of that, she is asked to take a leave from her marketing firm, where she considered some of her co workers to be friends. She takes all that frustration out on the apartment lobby and goes crazy breaking everything in sight.
She wakes up the next day to the fire alarm in the building going off, and she has to evacuate. Due to the evacuation, the landlady takes a fall and needs help keeping the building in order.
Mona decides that since she is currently without a job for some weeks, she can step up and keep the building in check. This is where she realizes she knows none of her neighbors. She only knows some of them with nicknames she has come up with. She learns that taking on this job, she is actually prepping the building to be sold. I loved this part of the story, where we really start to learn everyone in the building and how being kind to someone can go a long way.
This story shows it perfectly how what is meant to be for you will find you. Mona’s growth throughout the story really had you rooting for her throughout it. This is a fast-paced story about growth and found family that will leave you with a smile on your face.
