Book Review: Romantic Hero

Book: Romantic Hero

Author: Kristy Greenwood

Thank you, Berkley, for the eARC!

I loved the storyline of this book so much! It was such a unique and fun premise. Gertie is a romance author who wrote a successful series called Bedlam Creek. She is down to the deadline to write the fifth and final book in the series when she comes down with writer’s block. The writer’s block happens due to her love life crashing down when her boyfriend breaks up with her.

One morning after doing a manifestation ceremony the night before, she wakes up to find a strange man on her couch. The man is just as confused as to why he is there as well. We find out his name is River Oakley, a character in her Bedlam Creek series who happens to be the villain.

I loved the humor that River brought to the table, especially when they fake date to try and get Gertie’s ex-boyfriend back.

This magical realism story has so much heart in it. It has romance, humor while still touching on some heavy topics like grief. It was done in such a perfect way.

Final Score 4/5
