The perfect palette cleanse thriller.

She Dies in the End follows Penny Lin, a body broker in Portland, Oregon who transports donated cadavers to labs and universities for medical research. When her murdered ex-lover turns up among the bodies in her facility along with an anonymous note telling her to keep quiet, Penny is suddenly trapped between a killer’s twisted demands and her own complicity in hiding the dead.

What I loved about this one is how original the premise is. A body broker as a main character is not something I have seen before and Marr uses that world really effectively to build tension throughout. Just when Penny thinks she has a handle on things another body shows up and the walls close in a little more.

It is a fun read that moves at a great pace and does exactly what a good thriller should do. If you need something to break up a string of heavier reads this is a great choice.

Final Score: 4/5
