Book: Have Yourself a Merry Little Meltdown
Author: Sheila Roberts
Thank you, NetGalley and Harlequin Audio, for an advanced audio copy.
This one was such a fun holiday read and I related to it more than I expected to.
Have Yourself a Merry Little Meltdown follows Jordan Frost, a teacher turned author who based her debut novel on her wonderfully eccentric family without exactly telling them about it.
Written under a pen name and with a disguised author photo, Jordan is convinced no one will figure it out. Then she heads home to Holly Bay, Washington for Christmas and runs straight into Charles Pine, her high school best friend and the local bookstore owner who has loved her for years and recognized her immediately.
As a fellow author who kept their book mostly under wraps while writing it, I absolutely understood Jordan’s particular brand of panic. There is something very relatable about putting your words on the page and then suddenly having to face the people you know.
The friends to lovers dynamic between Jordan and Charles is genuinely sweet and the chemistry is excellent. Roberts takes her time with it and it feels completely earned by the end. The Frost family is wonderfully chaotic and adds so much warmth and humor to the whole story.
A really fun Christmas book that gets you right in the holiday spirit.
Final Score: 4/5
